Do Your Giving Quietly

Matt. 6:1-6

The principle stated here concerns the Christian’s motive of doing righteousness or good. If any believer gives to others for selfish reasons, he or she will lose his/her reward and praise from God. Instead, he will stand exposed as a hypocrite who, under the guise of giving glory to God, is really seeking glory for himself. Jesus speaks of acts of righteousness in three areas: giving (vv.2-4), prayer and fasting. His condemnation of doing righteousness to be seen by others challenges much of contemporary Christian activity, including competition for bigness, advertising one’s success, performance and entertainment in the Church, as well as the desire to be first. Thus, every child of God should do his or her giving quietly with God’s intimate presence and with true honour for eternity.

Point of Emphasis:     Seek the heart of God for guidance in where to give and what to give.

Prayer Point:             Oh Lord, let our heart of service always bring glory to You rather than ourselves in the name of Jesus.

EXERCE TES DONS DANS L’INTIMITE

MATT. 6 :1-6

Le principe mentionné ici concerne le motif des chrétiens à faire ce qui est bien et juste. Si un croyant donne aux autres pour raisons personnelles, il perdra sa récompense et sa louange de Dieu. Au contraire, il s’expose comme étant un hypocrite qui, sous prétexte de donner gloire à Dieu, chercher en fait à se donner lui-même gloire. Jésus parle de justice dans trois domaines: donner (vs. 2-4), jeûne et prière. Sa condamnation à pratiquer la justice pour être vu des autres reste un défi pour bon nombre d’activités chrétiennes contemporaines y compris la lutte de classe, la publicité de ses propres succès, la performance et le divertissement dans l’église aussi bien que le désir d’être premier (à la tête). Toutefois, chaque enfant de Dieu doit faire ses libéralités en secret dans l’intime présence de Dieu et avec un vrai honneur pour l’éternité.

Point essentiel : Recherche la volonté de Dieu pour son guide à savoir où donner et quoi donner.

Axe de prière : Seigneur, que notre cœur de service t’apporte toujours de la gloire plutôt qu’à nous-mêmes au nom de Jésus.
