“Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing… I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lends; And his descendants are blessed” (Ps 34:9,10; 37:25-26).
God has a complete package of blessing for each of His legitimate and obedient son or daughter. He has all they would need to make a happy and joyous life. His provision does not end in this present world but extends to the world to come. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, every faithful believer is entitled to the provisions of God for His own people. The Bible has this to say in this connection: “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich” (II Cor. 8:9).
The texts for the message this week is very much about the needs of all true believers in Christ, that there is no lack for them whatsoever, no matter the circumstance, even in the face of the present global economic meltdown. As children of God, you do not have to fix your eyes on the negative things going on in the natural world but what the word of God says about you. However, for you to maximize the no-lack life of God’s people; there are some principles or conditions in our texts that you need to fit in or abide with:
(a) The fear of the Lord: The psalmist says, anyone who fears the Lord will not lack any good thing. What is the fear of the Lord? It is reverential fear for the Lord. “Serve the LORD with fear. And rejoice with trembling” (Ps. 2:8). Prov. 16:6b says: “And with the fear of the Lord one departs from evil”. This was exactly what the young man Joseph did and God blessed him as a result. In Gen. 39:9b, Joseph said: “How then can I do this wickedness and sin against God?”
(b) Saints: A saint is a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ, one who separates him/herself from the pollution that is in the world, filled and sanctified by the Holy Spirit. If you meet this condition, you can be sure that you will not lack any good thing in your life. When you really believe in Jesus and are converted, you are already a saint; your status is changed from a sinner to a saint, and your destiny from hell to heaven.
(c) The Righteous: These are those who sincerely believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, put away their sinful lifestyle and put on the righteousness of Christ (read Isa. 61:10; Rom. 3:21-26). Christians no longer walk in their own righteousness but in the righteousness of Christ through faith. Putting on the righteousness of Christ, you look different and in the right relationship with God. Then God your heavenly Father who is the Possessor of heaven and earth, who owns everything in them, has more than enough supplies for His own children. Therefore, as a true child of God, who believes, trusts in God and does good works by supporting the work of God and the poor, I can assure you that you will never lack any good thing no matter the condition of the economy. I wish you happy, joyous and successful Christian life in Jesus name.
