Abstain From Sexual Immorality

1 Thess. 4:1-8

The perfect will of God for all His children is for them to abstain from sexual immorality. He wants them to live pure and holy and to honor Him with their bodies. Before God can say believers should abstain from sexual immorality, it means that He knows that unbelievers are doing it and there is the possibility for His children being negatively influenced, hence the command to abstain. Believers are to possess their vessels in sanctification and honor (v. 4). The Word “vessel” here probably refers to the body, because the body is frail and feeble. But the same word was used by the latter in Hebrews to denote a wife as the vessel of her husband. In essence, God is saying sex is only allowed between legal couple or husband and anything outside this is sexual immorality.

Point of Emphasis:         God’s will is for you to abstain from sexual immorality.

Prayer Point:                  Lord, give me the grace to abstain from anything that can lead to sexual immorality.

ABSTIENS-TOI DE L’IMMORALITE SEXUELLE

1THESS. 4 :1-8

La volonté parfaite de Dieu pour tous ses enfants est pour eux de s’abstenir de l’immoralité sexuelle. Il désire qu’ils mènent une vie pure et sainte pour l’honorer avec leurs corps. Avant que Dieu ne dise que les fidèles s’abstiennent de l’immoralité sexuelle, cela veut dire que les infidèles pratiquent cela et il y a la probabilité que ses enfants en soient négativement  influencés, d’où l’ordre de s’abstenir. Les fidèles doivent posséder leurs vases dans la sainteté et l’honnêteté. (v.4). Le mot’ vase’ se réfère sans doute ici au corps car le corps est faible et fragile.

Point essentiel : La volonté de Dieu est que tu t’abstiennes de l’immoralité.

Axe de prière : Seigneur, accorde-moi la grâce de m’abstenir de tout ce qui peut me conduire à l’immoralité sexuelle.
