Soul Thirsts For God
Ps. 63:1-8
Thirst is a desire or need to drink a liquid or the feeling of dryness in the mouth and throat caused by a need for liquid. It is also a strong desire for something. The Psalmist’s desire for God in today’s passage is unparalled. Anyone who is longing for God, who wants to know more of God, must do what the Psalmist did. First, he or she must seek God early, both at his or her young age and early in the morning. Second, he or she must thirst after God everywhere and in all conditions, whether in plenty or penury. Third, he or she must constantly be in Church for every service (verse 2). Fourth, he or she must meditate on the goodness and mercy of God at all times and also keep vigil so as to have quality time in God’s presence.
Point of Emphasis: Oh God, You are my God, early will I seek You.
Prayer Point: Oh Lord, give me grace to thirst and long for You all the days of my life.
