Christ, The Son Over His Own House
Heb. 3: 1-6
Comparing Jesus’ priesthood to Moses’ and the Old Covenant, the superiority of Christ Jesus is demonstrated by the writer (Paul). He knows that average/rational people naturally follow the strongest leader. In the Old Testament, believers followed the leadership of Moses but if Jesus is superior, then He deserves to be followed in our days. Both were faithful to God (v. 12). Though Moses honored and brought glory to God, Jesus brings more (v. 3). Moses is typical as the house but Christ is the builder of the house (verse 3, 4). He who builds the house has more honor than the house. Moses was a servant but Jesus is a Son of His own house. While Moses testified to the truth, Jesus is the truth. This Jesus became like us so that we can be like Him. We are the house of Christ, it is certain that if we hold fast the confidence and hope we have in Him to the end, it shall be well with us.
Point of Emphasis: Christ is a Son over His own house, whose house we are (v 6)
Prayer Point: Help me Oh Lord to enjoy the hope and the confidence I have in You to the end.
