Family Altar
Ps.1:1-6
The whole family needs to have a fixed and convenient time to read the word of God and pray together. This is called the family altar. Pressure of work and social engagements often want to crowd out the time for the family altar. The parents’ long and irregular hours at work, over-commitment to social engagements and having wrong priorities make it difficult to have regular family prayer time. The children are trained to depend on God and learn to worship Him at the family devotion times. Families who do not have regular family altar in essence train their children to treat their relationship with God with levity. Besides the family altar, the family should attend church services together and be involved in church activities. As the children watch the parents serve God, they learn to devote their time and energy to God too. The family has a formidable strength when the members pray together and serve God together.
Point of Emphasis: The family that prays together stays together.
Prayer Point: Holy Spirit, strengthen each family in our congregation at the family altar.
