The Call Of Gideon To Lead
Judg. 6:11-16
The children of Israel were suffering under the hands of the Midianites and God needed to raise up a leader to deliver them. One night Gideon was threshing a little wheat to hide it from the Midianites and the angel of the Lord appeared to him to be the instrument to deliver God’s people out of the hand of the Midianites. Gideon’s first response was ‘But Lord… how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family’ verse 15. God responded in v16. In effect, God said, ‘Gideon, it doesn’t matter that your family is poor in Manasseh or that you are least in your father’s house. The point is not who you are, but that I will be with you. It is not your weakness that you must dwell on, but your strength. Regardless of our background, God can decide to use us for his purpose. Whenever he calls, we should not come up with excuses.
Point Of Emphasis: God can use you for his purpose regardless of your background.
Prayer Point: Lord, help me to stop making excuses when you call me for a special service.
