“And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD” (Psalms 40:3).
No matter how terrible your life experiences may have been, it can be better. God is a specialist in turning things around; He will turn your sorrow to laughter and your lamentation to a joyful song. Like the song of degrees in Psalms126:2 “Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them”. This month, I see God filling your mouth with laughter and your tongue with singing in Jesus Mighty name.
A new song signals the end of the old song. It is the beginning of a joyful tune after a season of sadness. It is a change of circumstances. Miriam sang a new song when the Lord delivered the children of Israel from the captivity of Pharaoh (Ex. 15:20-21). Hannah was barren, she was derided by Peninnah, but she went to God at Shiloh and God gave her a new song. It is your turn, you also will sing a new song to the Lord.
For you to sing a new song this month, certain things are necessary. Let us consider what Hannah did before she sang a new song before the Lord.
Change: Change is important. For one’s situation to change, one must change for the better. If one keeps on doing the same things the same way, one is likely to get the same result. “Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved” (Matthew 9:17 ). Hannah stopped complaining to men (i.e. her husband) She took her matters to God and God answered. Put away all murmuring and complaining. Other areas where changes are needed are as follows:
(a) Sins: Repentance guarantees refreshing. Acts 3:19 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord”. Repent of every sin.
(b) A heart of Gratitude: Change from complaining to praising Him, right away and you will sing a new song this month. Psalms 67:5-6 “Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us”.
(c) Attitude: Increase your dedication and commitment to the things of God. Psalms 84:11c “…no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
(d) Confessions: Your confession must change for your circumstances to change. Let your confession align with what you are expecting from God. If you keep on saying the same things you will get the same things. Mat: 12:37 “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned”.
(e) Reactions: Some have lost their blessings to offence, they wonder how suddenly they lost their expected blessings. Refuse to be offended, offence blocks answers to prayers. Hannah had ample opportunity to be offended first at her rival, then her husband and also at Shiloh when Prophet Eli mistook her for a drunk. But she calmly explained her situation and she received blessed words from Eli (I Sam 1:14). When you forgive those who have offended you, you clear the pathway for your blessings to flow to you unhindered.
(f) Believe: Don’t just pray for it, believe it. Don’t just use your faith, put your faith into action, and it shall be well with you in Jesus name.
God’s favour will shine on your ways, His power will make ways for you, he will turn your sorrow into dancing, your mess into a message, your test into a testimony and this month shall be your best month in Jesus mighty name.
