Christ Is The Owner Of The Church
1 Cor. 1:12-17
The information Paul got about the Corinthian Christians was that individuals were pitching their tents along the lines of their favourite ministers and teachers of the Word. This brought about argument, lack of common purpose and direction and it was also digging the pit of division and lack of focus among the brethren. Paul made them to understand that Christ is the owner of the church. He was the One who laid down His life for the Church and not Paul or Apollos, or Cephas (the Hebrew word for Peter). Jesus must, therefore, be the role model and the Person that believers must aspire to be like, and not any minister of the Gospel.
Point of Emphasis: Jesus gave Himself up for the Church, so appreciate Him.
Prayer Point: Lord, help me to keep looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.
