Reasons Why People Do Not Give
Hagg. 1:1-11
In these days of economic hardship when many people are finding it difficult to make both ends meet or pay their bills, many postpone giving to God or to other people till when economic condition improves. Some people are in debt, having taken all manners of loan available and therefore, decide to start to give once they get out of debt. Those who are not economically buoyant feel giving should be left to those whom God has blessed. Some people feel they cannot trust the leaders of the Church to be good stewards of the money they pay as tithe or offering and therefore, give just a token. Some believe tithes belong to the Old Testament times and have nothing to do with Christians. Others have been tricked to give by fraudsters and are therefore reluctant to give any more. For whatever reason you do not fulfil God’s command on giving, you should not expect the blessings which God has promised those who give. You cannot refuse to give as God commands and escape the scourge of devourers.
Point of Emphasis: There is no tenable reason for disobeying God’s commands.
Prayer Point: I receive from God a heart that is willing and obedient to His commands.

LES RAISONS POUR LESQUELLES LES GENS REFUSENT DE DONNER

Par ces temps de difficultés économiques où beaucoup ont du mal à joindre les deux bouts ou à payer leurs factures, beaucoup de gens diffèrent de donner à Dieu et à d’autres personnes jusqu’à ce que leur condition économique s’améliore. Certaines personnes sont endettées, s’étant engagées dans toutes sortes de prêts disponibles, et décident donc de commencer à donner une fois qu’ils s’acquittent de leurs dettes. Ceux qui ne sont pas économiquement actifs pensent que donner est l’affaire exclusive de ceux qui ont été bénis de Dieu. Certaines personnes pensent qu’ils ne peuvent pas faire confiance aux dirigeants de l’église d’être de bons intendants pour l’argent qu’ils paient comme dîmes ou offrandes et ne donnent ainsi qu’une somme dérisoire. D’aucuns sont d’avis que les dîmes relèvent de l’Ancien Testament et n’ont donc aucun rapport avec les chrétiens. Les fraudeurs ont persuadé d’autres par la ruse de donner et ces derniers sont ainsi réticents à en donner davantage. Quelque soit la raison, tu n’accomplis pas le commandement de Dieu pour ce qui est de donner, ne t’attends donc pas aux bénédictions que Dieu a promises. Tu ne peux pas donc refuser de donner comme Dieu l’ordonne et te soustraire au fléau des dévoreurs.
Point essentiel : Il n’y a de raison défendable pour la désobéissance aux commandements de Dieu.
Axe de prière : Je reçois de Dieu un cœur consentant et obéissant à ses commandements.
