DAY 1: THURSDAY

2ND JANUARY 2014

TEXT: GENESIS 35:1-3

FOCUS: APPRECIATING GOD FOR HIS GOODNESS AND MERCY

INSIGHT FOR EFFECTIVE PRAYING

And God said unto Jacob; Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that [were] with him, Put away the strange gods that [are] among you, and be clean, and change your garments:

And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.

Jacob newly returned from a journey of destiny, it was like the just concluded year where many things were encountered but God stood by him, somebody who was nobody, became somebody, who was single became father of many, who had stone as his pillow, got a great wealth (a household).

God reminded him, Jacob before you settle down

1.  Arise

2.  Go up to bethel

3.  Dwell there

4.  Make there an altar unto God

5.  Remember how you flee from your brother

6.  Remember how you made stone your pillow

7.  Remember how Laban  nearly turn you into a slave

8.  Remember how you left him with great wealth and children

9.  Remember how you met your brother Esau who would have killed you.

In GOFAMINT, we have a lot to thank God for and in our individual lives and homes, God has been so gracious to us, more importantly our people in the Northern part of Nigeria, God took care of them.

God Commanded Jacob to do some things:

Arise: We should all arise and read Psalm 98 together.

Go up to Bethel: Let everyone come to the front of the altar and sing hymn 100. “My soul is happy in Jesus” and hymn 132  “Now thank we all our God.

Dwell There: Remain in the front of the Altar and sing your choice song of praise to God just to appreciate Him.

Make thee an Altar unto God: Go on your kneels and place your sacrifice of thanks on the Altar you have built with your praises.

2. Remember how He cares for you: begin to tell him what He has done for you during the past years.

The year 2013 was a tough year but our God kept us in perfect peace

Thank God on behalf of your family.

Thank God for the GOFAMINT family.

Thank God for the family of our G.O. Pastor (Dr.) E.O Abina.

Thank God for the GOFAMINT Excos.

Thank God for Nigeria.

Thank God for the success of every year victory month prayers.

Thank God for your Assembly, District, Area, Region and National.

Thank God for the New Year 2014 and the goodness of God, a package that cannot be quantified

Conclude these thanks with hymn 133 “O Lord of heaven and the earth.

Give a good offering that represents you”.
