GOFAMINT

AND YET, THE TASK REMAINS UNFINISHED

¹⁵And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. ¹⁶ He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. ¹⁷ And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; ¹⁸ they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”…. ²⁰ And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs” (Mark 16:15-18,20).

You don’t stop preaching the gospel and win souls to the kingdom of God and your church. Why? First because the first one of the five core values of GOFAMINT is OUTREACH. Outreach means you go and preach the gospel to win souls. It is not done inside the church.

Second, because this task is the first division or line one in GOFAMINT Statement of Purpose- To preach the word of God and bring people into membership of God’s family”. The church is God’s family.

Third, because sinners are out there waiting for you.

Four, because the gospel is only the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…(Rm. 1:10)

Five, because the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven and many sinners are dying everyday to Christless eternity.

Six, because, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few.” (Matt. 9:37,38)

Think of the teeming population of the world today which is increasing on a daily basis; so also are the false religions and false prophets. It is estimated that the world’s population now is 7 billion out of which only 3 billion are professing Christians. When we say professing Christians, it means not all of them are true or real Christians or possessors of Christ. A possessor of Christ is one who is really born again, filled with the Holy Spirit, discipled and who becomes a disciple possessing the Lord Jesus Christ in his/her heart, thirsting to be like Jesus. You say this is hard? ‘NO’, it isn’t. You are saved once but your growth is a process; the more you yield your life to Christ reading and studying the word of God and doing what it says, the more you become like Jesus everyday. So the world today needs the gospel more than anytime past in the history of man. The preaching of the gospel is not to your community alone, it is meant for the world. Your community is your Jerusalem. Moreso, the world abounds in places where to take the gospel to.

This is what the Lord Jesus in the passage of this message says to every creature. Every creature means every human being. And this is why we have to be involved in evangelical missions:- that is taking the gospel to other countries and nations of the world. That was what the apostles did in their own time. This also is the reason why we have to spend our money for the work. Politicians spend their money to promote their party to come to power. Christians have to spend and be spent for the gospel of the kingdom of God. The reward of this cannot be quantified, it is eternal, it is greater than what politics or the earthly kingdom can offer.

The message for you today is, “Go out and preach the gospel”, as the task has not yet finished. God bless you when you do this.

1. Thank God for the opportunity accorded you to preach the gospel.
2. Pray to God to help you bring more souls to the kingdom of God.
3. Ask God to raise gospel financiers in your church and make you one of them. Thank take God for answered prayers.
